David Wenzel is an attorney at Simmons Perrine PLC, where he advises clients in business transactions, estate planning, probate and trust administration, and real estate law. He is especially passionate about serving individuals and families in the special needs community, providing guidance on disability planning, special needs trusts, guardianships, and conservatorships.
David’s approach is rooted in empathy and a genuine commitment to helping others navigate life’s legal complexities. His work is informed by years of experience and a strong belief in service—both in the legal profession and in the broader community. David is actively engaged in organizations that support mental health, disability rights, and international exchange.
David earned his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law and became a certified mediator through the Werner Institute for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution. After beginning his legal career in Omaha, Nebraska, he returned to Cedar Rapids to practice alongside his father, Richard C. Wenzel. He has since served his clients for over a decade, joining Simmons Perrine PLC in 2024.
